Wanted Men Found With Gun, Meth In Rideshare Vehicle In Atlantic City: Police

Two wanted men were arrested after being accused of having a gun and methamphetamine in a rideshare vehicle in Atlantic City, authorities said.

Atlantic City police responded to a report of an armed man on the 2800 block of Pacific Avenue on Friday, June 28, the department said in a news release. An officer found 40-year-old Matthew Murphy of Egg Harbor Township and 47-year-old Nathaniel Rodgers of Atlantic City entering a rideshare vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle and found a gun while talking with the men. Officers also discovered the men had active arrest warrants and Murphy had seven grams of meth, along with additional ammunition.

Murphy was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and certain person not to possess a weapon. Rodgers was charged with contempt.

Murphy was held at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for a pre-arrest condition. Rodgers was held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
